Branch Insignia
The U.S. Army Military Intelligence insignia is a gold-tone metal dagger, point up, combined with a gold color metal heraldic sun that is composed of four straight and four wavy alternating rays. The sun is the symbol of Helios, the sun god in Greek mythology, that could see and hear everything. The placement of the sun symbol beneath the gold heraldic rose, an ancient symbol of secrecy, refers to the clandestine operations and activities of the Military Intelligence branch. The petals of the rose are dark blue enamel, which symbolizes vigilance and loyalty.
