STAINLESS STEEL AND GUNMETAL CARE

CARING FOR STAINLESS STEEL JEWELRY

Stainless steel jewelry won't rust but it can tarnish over time. Steel jewelry does not tarnish as fast as silver jewelry but the rate of tarnishing depends on how it is used. As with any jewelry it is best to avoid contact with chemicals (lotions, chlorine from pools etc.) in order to keep it cleaner longer. Steel jewelry is easy to clean, you can use mild dishwashing liquid (two or three drops in warm water will do) and wipe it down with a soft cloth. Steel jewelry is very durable and can withstand a lot of wear and tear, as opposed to silver, which is a very soft metal.

CARING FOR GUNMETAL JEWELRY

Gunmetal pieces are electro-plated in order to achieve their signature black finish. This means that the plating may eventually wear off, resulting in a cool weathered look.  To extend the life of the finish, please keep your jewelry away from water, perfumes/sprays and lotions.  You may also store your gunmetal/plated jewelry in a Ziploc bag to extend the life of your finish.

MATERIALS

Hope Design Ltd. utilizes a variety of high-quality metals and gemstones in our designs. But, that doesn’t mean our jewelry is everlasting when it comes to everyday wear and tear.

Because we know how special your pieces are to you, we recommend you remove them before showering, sleeping, swimming in the pool or ocean, and exercising. We also recommend you clean them with a soft cloth before storing them.

Exposing your jewelry to water, chemicals, and extreme heat will cause the metal to tarnish. We you aren't wearing your jewelry, we suggest you store it in a velvet bag or wrapped in a soft fabric.
