Branch Insignia
The U.S. Army Transportation Corps branch insignia is a gold-tone ship's steering wheel, superimposed thereon a shield charged with a winged car wheel on a rail. The modern Transportation Corps insignia is based on the World War I insignia with the addition of the shield and ship's wheel. The winged car wheel represents rail transportation and the steering wheel represents transport by water. The U.S. highway marker shield represents land transportation.
