1st Cavalry Division Memory Wire Bracelet
This memory wire bracelet bears the 1st Cavalry Division unit insignia charm.
1st Cavalry Division
The 1st Cavalry Division, also known as "First Team" is a combined arms division of the U.S. Army. It is headquartered in Fort Hood, Texas. During the 1920s, the 1st Cavalry Division's missions included rough-riding and patrolling the Mexican border. The invention of new technologies saw the use of horses in battle diminish, and the division turned in its horses to serve as dismounted cavalry in World War II. The hard-riding spirit of the United States Cavalry is alive and well in the 1st Cavalry Division.
Unit Insignia
The 1st Cavalry Division unit insignia is a yellow triangular Norman shield. Yellow is the traditional color of the Cavalry. The insignia features a horse's head which represents the Cavalry's origins. The horse head is black, which is symbolic of iron, and the transition to tanks and armor. The black diagonal stripe represents a sword baldric, which is a belt worn over one shoulder that is typically used to carry a weapon, and it is a mark of military honor.
