Branch Insignia

The U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps branch insignia is a gold-tone eagle with wings spread perched on a wheel. The wheel is symbolic of transportation and the thirteen gold stars represent the original colonies and the origin of the Corps during the Revolutionary War. The sword and the key are a reference to the military forces and the control of military supplies by the Quartermaster Corps. The insignia was originally approved by the Quartermaster Department in 1895. After World War I, the earlier design, with the eagle's head superimposed on one wing, was changed to depict the head above the wings.

The U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps branch insignia features a gold-tone eagle with wings outstretched, perched upon a wheel. The wheel symbolizes transportation, while the thirteen gold stars honor the original colonies and the Corps’ origins during the Revolutionary War. The sword and key represent the Army’s forces and the Quartermaster Corps’ vital role in managing and safeguarding military supplies. Originally approved in 1895, the design was refined after World War I to position the eagle’s head above the wings, reflecting the Corps’ enduring tradition of service, oversight, and logistical excellence.
