Insignia Details

The U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps branch insignia features a gold sword and pen crossed over a laurel wreath, standing 11/16 inches in height. The pen symbolizes the meticulous recording of law and justice, while the sword reflects the Corps’ military authority and mission. The laurel wreath signifies honor and distinction. Originally adopted in 1890 for officers and updated to gold in 1899, the insignia continues to embody the JAG Corps’ enduring commitment to integrity, service, and the rule of law. The enlisted branch insignia was authorized in 1967, extending this proud legacy throughout the Corps.
