Description & Details

More than 150,000 American women served in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and Women’s Army Corps (WAC) during World War II in essential non-combat roles. The hand-cut eagle, later nicknamed the “buzzard,” was chosen for uniform buttons and cap insignia, with olive drab plastic replacing metal due to wartime shortages.

This vintage WAC button, dating from 1943–1944, is set in a sterling silver filigree and strung on an 18-inch .925 sterling silver cable chain—offering a timeless way to wear a piece of military history and honor courage and service.
