14K GOLD-FILLED CARE
WHAT IS GOLD-FILLED?
Gold filled, also known as “rolled gold” or “gold overlay” is made up of a layer of solid gold bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal such as brass. In order for a metal to be legally considered Gold-filled, it must have a gold content of at least 5% of the total weight of the item.
STORING GOLD-FILLED JEWELRY
Properly storing your jewelry will help maximize how long the gold-filled exterior layer lasts. Here are some storage tips:
• Store individual pieces separately.
• Store each piece in an airtight bag.
• Place in an area with low humidity.
• Keep clasps/closures unhooked.
WEARING GOLD-FILLED JEWELRY
Wearing your gold-filled jewelry regularly without caring for it will accelerate the depletion of the exterior layer. You should remove your gold-filled jewelry before doing any of the following:
• Using household cleaning supplies
• Cooking with mustard, onions, eggs, or any other foods that contain sulfur
• Sunbathing
• Swimming
• Spraying Hairspray
• Putting on Lotion and Makeup
CARING FOR GOLD-FILLED JEWELRY
Wipe your jewelry carefully with a soft cloth to keep it clean. You can clean gold-filled jewelry by washing in warm soapy water. Use lukewarm water and a couple drops of dish soap (not antibacterial, as it leaves a film residue). Use a soft toothbrush to get into tight places. Rinse and dry with a soft polishing cloth immediately to avoid mineral residue from the water.
MATERIALS
Hope Design Ltd. utilizes a variety of high-quality metals and gemstones in our designs. But, that doesn’t mean our jewelry is everlasting when it comes to everyday wear and tear.
Because we know how special your pieces are to you, we recommend you remove them before showering, sleeping, swimming in the pool or ocean, and exercising. We also recommend you clean them with a soft cloth before storing them.
Exposing your jewelry to water, chemicals, and extreme heat will cause the metal to tarnish. We you aren't wearing your jewelry, we suggest you store it in a velvet bag or wrapped in a soft fabric.
